Dragon Festival

Lorraine and her family were celebrating the year of the Ox in an area known as Xintandi in Shanghai. She sent these photos of the Dragon Festival...As part of the celebration the king gives out envelopes to the children.

Chinese New Year

Back in China! Grace is going to the last day of class before we start celebrating the Chinese New Year. Each child had to wear chinese attire and/or Red. Everyone has a whole week off work and there are many parades and fireworks this week.
The city is covered in chinese lanterns preparing for the Chinese New Year. It is a big event and we will spend the week exploring Shanghai.

Wildflowers

Machines were humming along at the Wildflowers class. Come back in a little bit and maybe you'll get to see more flowers grow!

Lorraine's NY Xmas

It was great being back for the holidays. We spent Christmas and New Years back in the US. He is a picture of us Christmas Eve at our friend Raina's. We had a nice feast and got ready to see Santa. This year we were visited by Santa in the US and in Shanghai. How does he manage to do that? We had to explain to Grace that he sneaks in from a window since we do not have a fire place in our Townhome in Shanghai.








We also had great fun with Selena. We visited her on Christmas day. Here she is with her santa baby!








While we were home Maureen threw The Happy Quilters a nice christmas soirée ! Thank you Maureen!

All Silk

You'll want to come to the shop to see and feel this one! It's all silk (fabric, batting, backing and quilting thread) and all luscious red. It's part of the Sew Red Bernina campaign and a donation will be made for every kit sold. Come up and see this one in person and get all the information about it. Happy New Year!
BYW Lorraine is on her way back to the other side of the world. She promised to send some photos so we can see more of what her life is like there. She has gotten hooked up with a group of quilters........I'm sure we'll see photos of what they are doing as well.
